Rainbow Rare Pokémon cards weren’t actually a thing until the Sun & Moon era in 2017. There were a number of rainbow type holos, but a full on rainbow card took nearly 20 years to make.
But look at you now. Reading an article about some of the most expensive Rainbow Rare Pokémon cards ever released. Can’t say I blame you, they are pretty sweet.
This list will not be the most expensive ever sold, but rather a ranked list based on raw values of these cards. That said, PSA 10 average prices will also be included.
*Please also note that this article was updated on 4/29/2026. The Pokémon card market for these cards is beyond crazy right now and I expect there to still be a ton of movement in pricing. Please check your favorite app to get the most up to date pricing.*
Without further ado, let’s jump in!
#20 – Celebi & Venusaur GX #182
Raw: ~$80 | PSA 10: ~$300
Coming up first is the Celebi & Venusaur GX from the unbelievably popular Team Up set. While this card has a decent value overall, it is far from the last rainbow card from the Team Up set.
If you like the art but would like a slightly cheaper non rainbow version, I’ve got you covered here. Like the team combo but want some different art? They have one of those too.
#19 – Garchomp & Giratina GX #247
Raw: ~$85 | PSA 10: ~$385
Next up is the Rainbow Garchomp & Giratina GX from the Unified Minds set released in 2019. Once again, this set has a number of other Rainbow cards on this list, but we can’t complain that Garchomp & Giratina are leading us off.
Once again, if you like the art but want some different coloring (for a touch cheaper as well) you can check it out here. Like the combo and want to see some different art? They have that once again.
#18 – Magikarp & Wailord GX #183
Raw: ~$90 | PSA 10: ~$470
While seemingly an odd combo, the Magikarp & Wailord from the Team Up set is a popular one. While we wouldn’t expect a tiny and perpetually weak Pokémon to team up with a monster whale, they certainly made it work here.
Once again, there is another version with different coloring for slightly cheaper. Like the combo and feel like shelling out nearly $1k? This odd version of the two will cost you about that much.
#17 – Blastoise GX #218
Raw: ~$93 | PSA 10: ~$350
Our next Rainbow Rare card is the Blastoise GX from the Unified Minds set. If you already like the turtle tank, then how could you not like it in rainbow?
Once again there are other options. Find a much cheaper version with the same art and different coloring here.
#16 – Gardevoir & Sylveon GX #225
Raw: ~$95 | PSA 10: ~$360
Like cute Pokémon card combos in Rainbow Rare coloring? Are you in for a treat. The Rainbow Rare Gardevoir & Sylveon should scratch every itch you have.
Want both a rainbow and a pink version too? You can pick one up here. Like the combo and want to spend over $500? Yes, they have that too.
#15 – Dragonite GX #248
Raw: ~$100 | PSA 10: ~$560
Dragonite is an unbelievably popular Pokémon. There are a ton of very expensive Dragonites out there, but this version particularly lands at #15 on the Rainbow Rare list. There are two cheaper rainbow Dragonite, one VStar and one being another GX, if you want to spend less or just want all rainbow Dragonites (I don’t blame you).
Once again, here is a Dragonite with different coloring with the same art if you so fancy.
#14 – Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX #241
Raw: ~$105 | PSA 10: ~$340
Coming up next on our rainbow rare list is not one, but two Raichus? The Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX are yet another rainbow rare from the Unified Minds set and maybe the only card that has the same Pokémon named on the card (feel free to check me on that).
And while you’re at it, you may as well pick up some other versions of this duo.
One has the same image but is more yellow and colorful for about $30.
One Raichu & Alolan Raichu has a much more cartoony style, and can be picked up for between $15-60.
Like the combo so much that you want the most expensive version for several hundred dollars? Here you go.
#13 – Pikachu VMAX #188
Raw: ~$130 | PSA 10: ~$370
#12 – Latias & Latios GX #190
Raw: ~$140 | PSA 10: ~$670
#11 – Slowpoke & Psyduck GX #239
Raw: ~$145 | PSA 10: ~$775
Anyone like derpy Pokémon? May I present to you two of the derpiest Gen 1 Pokémon there are. Slowpoke & Psyduck. What a combo.
Once again, there are a number of different variations of this combo.
There is a version that has the same art with different coloring for slightly less than the rainbow rare.
Want them to be extra derpy for a little less than the rainbow rare? Here you go.
What about the several hundred dollar version? The art is pretty great.
#10 – Reshiram & Zekrom GX #259
Raw: ~$150 | PSA 10: ~$600
#9 – Charizard VMAX #74
Raw: ~$155 | PSA 10: ~$350
#8 – Reshiram & Charizard GX #217
Raw: ~$160 | PSA 10: ~$600
#7 – Lugia GX #227
Raw: ~$180 | PSA 10: ~$1,520
#6 – Eevee & Snorlax GX #191
Raw: ~$195 | PSA 10: ~$900
#5 – Mimikyu GX #226
Raw: ~$200 | PSA 10: ~$930
#4 – Rayquaza GX #177
Raw: ~$205 | PSA 10: ~$1,450

#1 – Gengar & Mimikyu GX #186
Raw: ~$350 | PSA 10: ~$1,300
