In the original 151 Pokémon card set, there were always a few stand-outs from the group. Obviously, Charizard and Pikachu are a favorite of many. One that has always been regarded as not only a favorite, but one of the best is the Dragonite Pokémon cards.
Dragonite has been argued as a legendary Pokémon since Pokémon’s release due to its incredibly high stats and power. Add in a little bit of magic charm and it’s easy to see why Dragonite is so popular.
Despite being in the original 151, Dragonite has continued to be released and appreciated in the Pokémon card community since its release over 25 years ago. So it seems only fair to give Dragonite a tribute here.
This article will be using the average raw values of sold Dragonite Pokémon cards, not their highest sold values. So if you happen to have one sitting around in a box or binder, this article should give you a reasonable idea of what it may be worth.
Without further ado, Dragonite fans rejoice! Let’s jump in!
#10 – Dragonite [Master Ball] #149
~$75
Coming in at #10 was a Dragonite that was released far more recently than most on the list. The Master Ball Dragonite is a Japanese exclusive released in June of 2023.
And while this card might not look like it is as expensive as others, the Master Ball cards from the Japanese 151 set are incredibly rare and hard to pull. This is one in particular then that is pretty darn rare.
Many believe that this will be a great card to hold onto into the future as well, so get one added to your collection quickly if you don’t have one already!
#9 – Dragonite #9 Expedition
~$100
The Dragonite from the Expedition set is a favorite of many, and it’s easy to see why. The art is incredibly cool and unique and the E-reader card sets are now some of the most expensive ever released.
If you have one already, know that it would not be a difficult card to sell. If you’re trying to pick one up, you can definitely run across them on eBay and otherwise.
So if you’re a Dragonite collector, this is a must-have in your binder.
#8 – Dragonite [1st Edition] #4
~$120
The 1st Edition Dragonite from the Fossil set was the first Dragonite Pokémon card ever released. It is an unbelievably popular card and is going to be the hardest on the list to find in good condition.
Because Pokémon cards were originally played with more than collected upon original release, this Dragonite is actually the most expensive PSA 10 of everything on this list. If you want one, you’ll have to shell out ~$4500 for it!
If you want one but don’t want to spend that much money, you can grab a non 1st Edition for about $30 and a non holo version for about $10.
#7 – Japanese Dragonite V #74
~$130
Coming in at #7 is another modern one. The Japanese version of the Evolving Skies set (the Japanese Blue Sky Stream set) has raised this cards price incredibly quickly and hasn’t seemed to let off since then at all.
And as far as modern sets go, Evolving Skies (or Blue Sky Stream) is one of the most sought after of them all. So much like the 151 Dragonite above, I wouldn’t go too long without grabbing this one as it seems it is only going to get more expensive.
If you prefer the English Dragonite V over the Japanese one? You can get that for about $85.
#6 – Dragonite #18/T
~$140
If I’m being honest, I didn’t know about this card before I wrote this article. Now that I know about it though, it has made it onto my must-have list.
The Dragonite 18/T could actually only be acquired through the Pokémon Japanese Trainers Magazine. It is one of 24 other cards that could only be picked up through the magazine.
Unfortunately, it is the most expensive card of that group, so this Dragonite won’t come too cheaply. If you’re a Dragonite lover though, it is a must-have.
#5 – Dark Dragonite [Reverse Holo] #5
~$150
The Reverse Holo Dark Dragonite from the Legendary collection set was an instant classic. The art was used on the Team Rocket set first but was re-wrapped in the famous Legendary Collection holo to make the card you see above.
This card won’t be easy or cheap to find, especially in good condition. Regardless, the fireworks holo from the Legendary collection set can be appreciated in any condition.
Another absolute must-have for Dragonite lovers.
#4 – Dark Dragonite [1st Edition] #5
~$153
Remember that Dragonite art I was talking about above? Tah-dah! Feast your eyes on the original.
This 1st Edition Team Rocket Dark Dragonite was the second Dragonite Pokémon card to ever be released, only behind the Fossil version. It has remained a favorite among collectors and is second in value in the Team Rocket set only to Dark Charizard.
If you like this card, once again there is both a non 1st edition and non holo version that you can pick up for less if you want something similar in your collection!
#3 – Dragonite [National Championships Staff] #2
~$200
I was close to not putting this Dragonite on the list because it has so few sales every year. Because of that, tracking down a consistent price on it was not easy to do.
That being said, the pricing was consistent enough to put it at minimum at #3 on the list. The Dragonite National Championships Staff card was incredibly difficult to obtain and couldn’t be pulled from a regular pack.
There is also a non-staff version that can be picked up for less money as well!
#2 – Light Dragonite [1st Edition] #14
~$225
The 1st Edition Light Dragonite comes from the Neo Destiny set released in 2002. The Neo Destiny set is another one of the most expensive Pokémon card sets ever released, and the price of the Light Dragonite certainly follows that.
The artwork on the card definitely leans towards the “cuter” side of Dragonite, but still has the general appeal and power that you would expect from Dragonite.
This card has held stable on price for a few years now, so it’s not one you’ll have to jump on if it’s not in your collection yet. That being said, this card is already over 20 years old, so you’ll still have to shell out some cash if you want a nice one.
#1 – Dragonite EX #98 – 20th Anniversary
~$240
Coming in at #1 is the Japanese 20th Anniversary Dragonite EX, aka the CP6 Dragonite.
If you’ve seen the English version of this card, then you would have found that it costs less than $10. So why is the Japanese version so expensive?
The reason the Japanese Dragonite EX so expensive is simply because the set it’s from wasn’t reprinted AT ALL. The English version got reprinted several times which means there were more of that card on the market. The Japanese version though? Very tough to get your hands on, which means very expensive.
In case you were wondering, the set this Dragonite is from also has one of the most expensive Pikachu’s you can own.

#0.A – 1st Edition Dark Dragonite Holo Error

How can I give the top 10 Dragonite cards without throwing out a few random non-standard cards?
In case you weren’t aware. the 1st Edition Dark Dragonite has an error version in which the holographic card #5 has no holographic portion of the card at all. It can be easy to miss so check your non holo Dark Dragonite cards before doing anything with them!
And if you’re lucky enough to get a PSA 10 in one of these error cards? The last sold PSA 10 values are between $5,400-$12,000!
#0.B – Dragonite [Tekno] #149
~$4,500
This did not make the list because it’s not technically a Pokémon card. That being said, its incredible value was worth sharing for you Dragonite lovers out there.
Take note that there are other holo Topps versions of this card. The Tekno version though is the only one with incredible value. All others can be picked up for between $60-250.
